Monsters Without Warmth
There's a whole centimeter of snow on the ground, so it's time for me to post some winter themed monsters.
My last set of monsters were for the dungeon, so these ones are for the wilderness.
Oh and a heads up, some mention of dead children below.
Without further ado:
Elves of Winter
1 HD, AC as leather.
Fae spirits which possess the bodies of children lost gathering firewood. Gangly, with pale flesh and vacant eyes. Walk atop the snow effortlessly, without sinking in.
Sharpen icicles to a razor's edge to throw, or fashion into crude spears.
Will-o'-the-winter
4 HD, AC as chain. Incorporeal, and immune to non-magical missiles.
Appears as distant warmth--the light of a hearth, smoke from a chimney, a campfire just out of reach. Seeks to lure weary travelers to a frigid death.
Only once death is certain will you see their true forms: wretched, princely spirits. Skin like ice, eyes aflame.
Sack Man
5 HD, AC as chain, Damage 1d6+2. Carries a heavy burlap sack.
Stands 10' tall, with coarse wool and pointed horns. Wanders the roads on winter nights, looking for travelers. If it can catch you, it will shove you in its sack.
Those caught awaken to find themselves in a realm without sun or stars, with towering spires of black ice.
Warmth Drinker
6 HD, AC as chain. On damage roll of 6, restore HP equal to damage dealt.
They walk the city streets in dark December, cloaked in layers of coats--expensive furs in bohemian styles. Elegant and alluring, all the promise of warmth, but with none to share. Seeks to take the heat from your blood, freezing it over.
Those drained of heat by the Warmth Drinker become its thralls, devoid of all light and love.
Old Men of the Pines
8 HD, AC as plate. Suffer +2 damage per die from fire.
A towering figure in a cloak of green needles. Surprisingly gaunt, with legs like gnarled tree trunks. Stands among the trees, watching its flock. Plucks woodsman and would-be lumberjacks from the forest floor, breaking bones in their cruel fingers.
Polar Krakens
20 HD, AC as plate, Damage 4d6.
A creature from an elder epoch, made slow and lazy by the weight of time. Body like a slithering glacier. Able to rend an ironclad hull through its own motion alone.
Polar krakens hail from the farthest north, but sometimes meander south in the coldest of winters.

Thanks for reading all the way to the end! If you want more monsters, I also made a post a little while back about purple worms.
